Today’s word is... “Compulsion”

This is about poker, but first I’m going to make psychologists mad again. I don’t like the profession. Don’t misunderstand that statement. I’m intrigued by psychology and believe it should be one of the great branches of science.
 
Unfortunately, it isn’t. Psychology is all about people—their moods, their beliefs, and their reactions. (Okay, there’s psychology for animals, too, but this isn’t about that.) Psychologists should separate their feelings, opinions, and biases from their observations. But, if you’ve read any contemporary books by popular psychologists or seen their television appearances, you realize that many of them are governed by their own emotions.

Make Plans Today for Peppermill’s Deep Stack Poker Tournament. This event begins August 25-29, with three events daily and buy-ins ranging from $120-$330. The action begins with a $120 no-limit tournament at noon, followed by a HORSE at 4 p.m., and another $120 no-limit event at 7 p.m. All noon and 7 p.m. events will be nolimit and the 4 p.m. events are as follows: August 26: Omaha; August 27: razz; August 27: 7-stud/8 and August 29: six-handed limit hold’em. Players receive 8,000 tournament chips for the $100 buy-in events, 10,000 chips for the $200 events, and 12,000 tournament chips for the $300 buy-in. The 4 p.m. events will start with 4,000 chips.

Duhamel, Grinder Highlight 2010 November Nine 2010 World Series of Poker Final Table Set

Canada’s Jonathan Duhamel leads the way to this November’s finale of the 2010 World Series of Poker main event.

 When the final table was established on July 18, Duhamel held 65,975,000 in chips, nearly 20 million ahead of his closest competitor, John Dolan, who had 46,250,000.
