Anton Makiievskyi Out in Eighth Place from the 2011 WSOP Main Event Final Table

By Shari Geller

Not long after Sam Holden wrapped up his exit interviews and play started back up eight-handed, we had another elimination.

Anton Makiievskyi, the 21-year-old poker pro from Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, was all in and behind KcQh against the pocket nines of Pius Heinz. The flop came KdJhJc and the young Ukranian was looking to be in great shape for a double up. Until Heinz spiked a nine on the turn. Makiievskyi was down to two outs for his tournament life, but the 7h river was not the help he needed and he was out in eighth place with $1,010,015. Losing the youngest player at the table meant we would not see Joe Cada's record broken this year.

With that hand, Pius Heinz was the chip leader and Bob Bounhara was the shortstack.
