Cardroom Deals: Green Valley Ranch; The Palms; The Golden Nugget

Green Valley Ranch is Sweet on the Ladies. I spent the last two Sundays playing in the Ladies tournament at Green Valley Ranch and it was a lot of fun on both occasions. The first Sunday they had two tables and the following Sunday they had three tables.

If you are looking for a ladies event with a lot of play for your money, this one's for you. The event begins at 11 a.m., with 30 minute rounds, and the buy-in is $50 with a little twist: if you bust out in the first hour, you can't make rebuy, but you can buy back in for another $50. The original buy-in gets you $2,000 in chips and a $5 donation for the dealers gets you another $500 in chips. It's a fun group of ladies that take poker seriously but enjoy the camaraderie. Stop by and tell 'em Debbie sent you.

After the tournament, jump into a live game and take advantage of all the new promotions offered at the Station Casino cardrooms. They now have jumbo hold'em progressive and high hand bonuses. Get any four of a kind and receive $50 cash, make a straight flush and get $100, make a royal flush and take home $250.

Play 75 hours of live poker and qualify for the $500,000 Poker Plus Tournament. The qualifying period ends on March 31. It's hard to lose in this deal. First place pays $70,000. The chip leaders on day one will split $10,000; all players that get knocked out on day one will receive $100, and 500 places will be paid. There is no excuse for not playing in this event. There are seven places to play around Las Vegas. For more information contact the poker room or see their ad in this issue of Poker Player Newspaper.

The Palms welcomes Joe Sartori as the new Cardroom Manager. Stop by the Palms, meet Joe, and while you're there start accumulating hours to qualify for the $10,000 Valentine Free Roll. Play 30 hours of live poker to qualify between February 7-29.

The $4-$8 hold'em blinds are now $1 and $2. Hit a diamond flush seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and win your share of $25,000. The rake on all games is 10 percent with a $3 maximum. For more information contact the poker room or see their ad in this issue of Poker Player Newspaper.

Add the Golden Nugget to your Calendar of Tournaments. Beginning June 6 through July 6 Downtown Las Vegas will be host to the Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget. The buy-ins range from $225-$1,080. The event starts with a Montel Williams charity event benefiting MS. The buy-in is $1,080 and players receive $5,000 in chips. All events with the exception of the charity event offer $2,000 or $3,000 in extra starting chips for $10. This will be held in the new luxurious event center that can accommodate 50 plus tables. This event will host a ladies event on June 9, a senior's event on June 23, a potlimit Omaha/8 event, a pot-limit event, two HORSE events, a limit Omaha event and a grand finale event with $15,000 in starting chips. All tournaments begin at noon with 40 minute levels with the exception of the grand finale that will have 60 minute levels. The winners of the ladies, seniors and the grand finale events will receive bracelets. Additional tournaments will be offered nightly at 10 p.m. with $125 buy-ins on Sunday through Thursday and $225 buy-ins on Friday and Saturday. For more information contact the poker room or see their ad in this issue of Poker Player Newspaper.

Note: As you can see, the new trend in Las Vegas is to offer poker players extra starting chips for a minimal amount. Apparently this new practice is very appealing to poker players because the Venetian is currently running their Deep Stack Extravaganza and experiencing phenomenal results.
