If you're a fan of comedian David Spade, get set to see him at a new venue here in town. Spade, who was one of the stable of comic headliners at The Mirage, has moved up the street to Planet Hollywood where he begins a series of dates beginning February 15-16. The rest of his sked for the year looks like this: March 14-25, April 11-12, July 25-26, August 30-31, October 10-11, October 24-25 and November 28-29. Tickets are $89 plus tax and are now on sale online at www.Ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 702-474-4000.
If you want to see Carrot Top at the Luxor, buy your tickets online. The resort is offering a free Carrot Top DVD when you purchase your tickets at regular price ($49.95 & $59.95). Just pick up the voucher when you collect your tickets at the Luxor ticket counter. This offer is valid through February 29, and limited to one per transaction.
Lot of people will be happy to hear that John O'Hurley will again don his King Arthur crown on January 28 as he rejoins the cast of Monty Python's Spamalot at Wynn Las Vegas for an indefinite engagement. This talented performer was a big draw when he played the role last year, before having to leave to honor previous commitments.
The Sopranos Last Supper has moved to the Riviera following its long run at the Empire Ballroom. The show will run Tuesday thru Saturday (dark Mondays) at 6 p.m. VIP tickets are $95 plus fees and that includes a private Italian dinner hosted by cast members of the show. Regular tickets are $65 plus fees. Entertainer Terry Fator, who gained national popularity when he won NBC-TV's America's Got Talent show last season, has been signed to a 2008 schedule by the Las Vegas Hilton. The deal is worth more than $1.5 million for the ventriloquist, celebrity impressionist, comedian and singer. Some of his "characters" include the voices of Garth Brooks, members of the Rat Pack, Gnarls Barkley, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, Elvis, Richard Marx, James Blunt, Roy Orbison, Keith Urban, Nat King and Natalie Cole, Brooks & Dunn, Maroon Five, Louis Armstrong, and even Kermit the Frog.
Fator performed to sold-out audiences at the resort last fall, prompting Hilton execs to sign him up. They obviously know a good thing when then they see it. Fator will next appear at the resort February 24 at 6 p.m. and on March 28 & 29 at 8 p.m., March 30 at 6 p.m.
The nationally praised musical comedy, 3 Redneck Tenors, returns to the Luxor March 19 - 24. Performing in the Atrium Showroom, 3 Redneck Tenors can be seen Sunday thru Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m. Tickets are $30, $40 and $50 plus tax and handling fees.
This one-of-a-kind musical comedy follows three singing cousins from their modest beginnings in Paris, Texas, all the way to their triumphant debut at New York's famed Carnegie Hall. This show is a real foot stompin', knee slappin', uproariously funny musical redneck romp, with tunes from Elvis to Puccini, soul to pop and country to opera. Join Billy Bob, Billy Joe and Billy Billee as they mix NASCAR with Beethoven, lite beer with Puccini and even kick up a little dust with Ave Maria Dixie. Over the past three years, it has performed in over 100 cities throughout the United States and I'm told audiences love it, so should be a good bet to see. Put it on your calendar.
I end this column on a sad note. Impressionist Gordie Brown is wrapping up his Venetian run February 13. That will leave comedian Wayne Brady as the theater's sole tenant for the time being. I have always rated Brown's show as one of the top three shows in Las Vegas for entertainment value. The good news is that Venetian execs offered to build him a new room within the hotel at the new Palazzo, adjacent to the resort, but it will take nine months to get one ready. I'm told Brown accepted the offer, so he will be back.
