Daniel Negreanu has designed a new structure for this year’s kickoff of the 9th season of the Heartland Poker Tour. Founded with a grassroots strategy for “Real People, Unreal Money,” they’re keeping-it-real with affordable buy-ins on their Texas Hold’em tour. And FYI the Belterra Casino in Florence, Indiana will host the Heartland Poker Tour, March 15-25. More details soon!
Chalk up another success for Poker room Manager Keven Castora and Delaware Park. The first Delaware Park Winter Poker Classic was a great success. Watch for the next big event coming this Spring. I was flanked by two players who made their first go at cashing in any of many events, but both had great comments about the poker room!
Pizza Party! That sexy poker room at Revel in Atlantic City keeps you happy while playing tournament poker. With (sometimes complimentary) fresh baked subs or pizza made on site, you can enjoy the lush surroundings of this beautiful room, expertly managed by Frankie Foti, without going hungry. As of this writing, the bad beat is close to one grand. There are now two daily tournaments at 12:30 pm and 8:00 pm. The monthly $10,000 guaranteed tournament is increasingly in popularity all the time. This plays out on the last Friday of the month. The other three Fridays of the month offer a guarantee of $5,000 in the No Limit hold’em.
A good friend of mine, Mike from Rhode Island, played in a game recently where the same player was dealt pocket aces four times in a row. What’s even more incredible is they were the same suit each time, ace of clubs, and the ace of diamonds. As hard as it is to believe, it’s true; you know anything can happen in this game of ours. The chances of it happening are comparable to: winning the lottery 5 times or getting struck by lightning three times in your lifetime. The chance of random aces three times in a row is 1 in 10,793,308. One players’ response to “ace man” was “there is no (f -in) way you have pocket aces four times in a row, I call!”
Turning Stone in Verona, New York will give a snowmobile away on February 24th. You can qualify for the drawing by playing in the poker room where the bad beat is over $100,000 as of this writing. It is a Ski Doo MX Z Sport 600. There is always something going on in this popular poker room! Monthly Bounty tournaments will run on the first Sunday of every month throughout 2013 at Turning Stone Resort & Casino. The buy-in is $150+$24+$50, with 20,000 chips to work with. Sign up begins at 10am, and the tourny starts at 11 am.
Dover Downs has a nice President’s Day weekend planned for you. On Sunday the 17th at noon, with a buy-in of only $80.00, the guarantee is $2,500 in a No Limit hold’em tournament. On Friday, February 22nd at 7 pm, $300 will buy you a good shot at winning a share of the $25,000 guaranteed prize pool. As of now, the bad beat in the Crown Royal Poker Room is over a $100,000. This chilly weather is an excellent time to ensconce yourself in the AAA-rated Four Diamond Hotel in Delaware at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
Seneca Gaming & Entertainment’s Salamanca Poker Room in New York will host a “couples” tournament on February 9th at 7 pm. Couples may buy-in for one hundred dollars. At 10pm there will be a dessert buffet for the couples that are still speaking to one another. Just kidding! A couple that I sometimes play poker with, played this event last year and had a blast. Call the poker room in Salamanca direct at 716 945 8902 for additional information. Seneca Gaming & Entertainment is bringing on the Western New York Poker Challenge too. These events will run from February 12th to the 18th. Look for all the details in this issue of Poker Player.
