13 DAYS OF POKER, 21 events: Delaware Park brings it bright and early New Years Day. With the first event starting at 9 am, if you’re hung over, not to worry... The next event is at 11 am! Still hung over? Go to the poker room at 3 pm and play that tournament. This is the Winter Poker Classic in Wilmington, at the very hot spot on the second floor, considered to be one of the best run poker rooms in the country. Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem wastes no time kickstarting their new year with a $250,000 guaranteed main event NLH tournament. Poker room manager David Urie has put together a 6 event series running from January 1-13th. This is the Sands Deep Stack Extravaganza. There are plenty of events to choose from, with the highlighted main event offering Flights A, B, and C, Jan. 10-13th. You might find the Double Green Chip Bounty on the 8th of January at 11 am to be fun. Buy-in for the main event is $1500.
Mark your calendar for the World Series Of Poker coming to Harrah’s Philadelphia. Harrah’s Philly is the only WSOP poker room in Pennsylvania. The dates are April 17-28th. I will bring you more on this later, including where to stay and how to get a poker room discount. Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh rocked it with their Pittsburgh Poker Open, including Poker Night In America. This is the first major poker event in Pittsburgh (previously known as the city of twisted steel) ever to be televised. Watch for Rivers next big event coming in April. But coming up on Jan. 4th, is The Mario Lemieux Foundation Charity Poker Tournament. The buyin is $125+$50 (50 for charity) +$20+$5. Jim Tinney’s poker room now has a bad beat close to 2 hundred grand.
Maryland Live! Casino is still keeping it lively for the players in the poker room. Not one to take their success for granted, they are offering cash on December 1st thru Dec. 26th on a new promotion. This one pays $10,000 to you, if you Flop A Royal Flush. Nice, and the other players at the table each get $500. Flop A Straight Flush, collect $1,000, with the other players dealt in the hand pocketing $100. Flop Four Of A Kind, you win $500 and the others dealt in the hand win $50 each. There is only one casino license left in the city of Philadelphia. There are five entities throwing hats into the ring. The hearings will start on January 28th, all in 4 hour blocks. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will stream them live.
Don’t forget New Years Eve at Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, New York. There’s so much going on here that you won’t have to leave for anything, nor will you want too. In addition to lively poker action, there are great entertainment choices, plenty of restaurants, lounges, and big bingo payouts.
