Poker East and a Little West of the Mississippi

Here it is! The dates for the only World Series Of Poker circuit event in Pennsylvania. Harrah’s Philadelphia plays host in April, from the 16th to the 28th. The action includes plenty of NLH events; mixed in will be Pot Limit Omaha and H.O.S.E. This will include a nice amount of Ring Events and a Main Event with a $200,000 Guarantee. New to Harrah’s Philly, a familiar face to many of you, Bruce Pearlman joins Prasenjit “PJ” Data and poker room manager Bruce Dixon.

The $500 million dollar complex called Maryland Live! is again offering satellites to the PPC Aruba. The tournament calendar is loaded. There are plenty of cash guaranteed NLH Tournaments. This is one of the largest and most action driven poker rooms in the country. Located at the Arundel Mills Mall in Maryland, Mike Smith is the man in charge of this poker room that never sleeps.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes Barre, PA now has rooms to rest your tired self: 238 of them! This has been a long time coming, and the hotel boasts many amenities. So another place you can stay and play.

Congratulations to Robert “Westy” Westerfield now the Director of Table Games at Horseshoe Baltimore, opening this year. And an ever bigger congratulations to Horseshoe Baltimore for now having “Westy” on their staff. With an academic pedigree as well an immense amount of casino experience, not to mention the know how of running the front office of any profession football franchise, Westy’s a great acquisition for Caesar’s.

March Mania Hold’em Series at Turning Stone—get your early preview on this tournament on page 11 of this Poker Player. This is a great place to stay and play, with so much to do. And the event is loaded. Remember to call early for your room reservation with a poker room rate.

I’m giving you a “heads up” on a sneak preview at the big tournament coming up at Mohegan Sun in CT. Starting on March 23 and running until March 30th, the kick off is a $100,000 guarantee. There are 10 events with a guaranteed pay out. The main event will guarantee $150,000. It starts on March 29th, a Saturday, with a $1100 buy-in. More to come on this later.

As of this writing, Shannon Mortland reports the bad beat at Horseshoe Cincinnati to be at $240,000 and growing.
