If you haven’t yet cashed in the abundance of tournaments that I’ve told you about, get back in the game! Get up, dust yourself off—there is plenty more to come… Read on.
Belterra brings you the Heartland Poker Tour. This will be nationally televised, attracting players from all over the US. The anticipated turnout should take the 1st place payout up to six figures. The dates: Oct. 25th-Nov.3rd. For more details, see my article in this issue of Poker Player
Seneca Niagara presents their October Pokerfest & Seneca Fall Classic Satellite Launch. Takeoff is October 7th. October 1st starts cash giveaway all day, Hot Seats and Slips, 10 am to 12 am. You can earn a slip for every hour of play. Seneca Niagara is located on 310 Fourth Street, just a short walk to the Falls. 716-299-1100 to make a room reservation.
Tristan Wilberg, the creative mind behind all the popular tournament events at Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minnesota is doing something pretty cool in October. The Hallow- Scream Tournament, with a $275 buy-in and 7 starting flights will guarantee a whooping $150,000 payout. This is great value for the buy-in. If a player plays in multiple starting flights and advances more than once, Tristan will buy your shortest stack for $1,000. So theoretically a player could play all 7 flights, advancing in all of them, and get $6,000 before even starting on Day 2. And the buy-backs do not decrease the amount of the guarantee for Day 2 either. Now that’s a treat for you.
Streamed and filmed for rebroadcast, will be this years final table at the All In For Wishes IV. My buddy, 2012 Poker Player Champ and poker author of Life On Tilt, John Blowers will be there. Lee Childs, Greg Merson, Chad Holloway, Gary Styczinski, and PokerStars Pro “downtown” Chad Brown are some of the notables to rub elbows with while you beat them. Giving back is always a great thing to do, and by playing you are helping a great group: Make A Wish of Northeast NY. Last year All In for Wishes III raised over $10,000 helping to fulfill dreams.
Maryland Live! Casino is living up to the hype. And I thought Ohio poker players were crazily awaiting for the rooms to open. Maryland Live! was jammed upon opening. Showing no sign of letting up, players are not too disappointed as they show major support and appreciation for the 52 table poker area. Plenty of satellites are available for the PPC Aruba trip. Maryland Live! Casino is located at the Arndel Mills Mall in Hanover.
Don’t forget Canterbury Park’s Premier Poker Tournament. The schedule is loaded. The run is from October 5th to 21st. Located in Shakopee, Minnesota, not far from St. Paul. Mystic Lake has a special hotel package, dial 1-800-813-7349, and ask for it. See CanterburyPark.com for the schedule in its entirety.
Foxwoods World Poker Finals will guarantee $1,000,000 in Pay-outs! Right on the heels of their WSOP Circuit event, Sunday October 20th opens with a $600 NLH (Re-Entry) with $100,000 guarantee, 40/50 min. blinds and 20,000 chips, 11 am. With plenty of evens, including 7-Card Stud, HOSE, Omaha Hi-Lo 8+ and more guarantees of $50,000, $75,000, $150,000, and $500,000, this is another premier event to put on your travel calendar. You can view the entire schedule by a visit to foxwoods.com. Connecticut foliage should be almost as beautiful as these huge piles of pay-out monies.
Canada, are you ready? Better be, because it’s coming, a new televised poker reality show. Looking for a new poker superstar, auditions and castings in the VIP Poker Room in Kahnewake, Quebec will be the start of something new, Reality Poker. American Herb Van Dyke, the man who was largely responsible for the first introduction of Texas Hold’em to Russia and founder of the World Poker Showdown brings me this information. And soon, I am going to bring you information on Herb and what he’s up to.
As I write this, Josh Zuckerman is on the road somewhere between Florida and Connecticut. Heading for Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Ct., you just know he’s gonna love it. A beautiful casino awaits him, complete with a great poker room filled with some of the best players in the game. He will bring us up to speed on his plans with what’s ahead, once he’s situated.
Jim Farone is the man now in charge of the poker room at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington, Pa., located not far from Pittsburgh. Jim inherits a great team that includes Donna Lapia. Donna helped open the Meadows poker room. Watch for some innovation from Jim and renovation of the poker room. The poker room is now located on the main casino floor with a clear view of the racetrack through a glass enclosure.
Just be sure to bundle up Josh and Jim, you’re going to love it! WELCOME to my neck of the woods.
