The Trop Appoints Eldon Brown Cardroom Manager! Eldon has 24 years experience in the poker industry dating back to 1988. His career began in California at the Bike, he spent the early 90’s at the Commerce and then in 1995 he moved over to Hollywood Park. Eldon moved to Las Vegas in 2000 to take the position of tournament director/cardroom manager at Station’s Fiesta Henderson. In 2004 he accepted the position of tournament director/ shift manager at the Palms and on March 20, 2012 he landed on the Strip as cardroom manager of the New Tropicana. Eldon has made great strides in making the poker room more player friendly.

For starters, he brought in the high hand of the day. If the high hand of the day is four of a kind you’ll receive $50, $200 for a straight flush and a royal will get you $500. If you flop the high hand the payout is doubled. His next modification was extending the cash drawing to four per day as opposed to one. Start playing hold’em at 9 a.m. and earn two drawing tickets per hour. If you start the game at 9 a.m. you will earn two bonus tickets. Drawings are held at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. He has also modified the tournament schedule to be more player friendly with deeper starting stacks and he has modified the rake back program, players can earn up to $80 per day. Eldon promises more creative programs to come so stay tuned for future updates on poker at the Trop.

There are three tournaments scheduled daily, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All buy-ins are $55, with the exception of the Sunday 2 p.m. event which is $45, the Saturday 7 p.m. event is $130, as is the Sunday 7 p.m. bounty event. For more information on poker at the Trop, see their ad on page WSOP15.
