Scott Standridge Wins Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge V
December 8, 2008 - 3:53am
Cherokee Casino's Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge V featured 30 events over 11 days with buy-ins ranging from $120 - $3,150, and drew top players from across the country. Although hosting an event of this size is a daunting task, it did not slow Cherokee's future plans to brand under The Hard Rock venue and expand their capacity. When complete, the 412,548 square feet resort will include:
• 30,000 square feet of additional gaming room • 30,000 square feet of convention space
• A 2,500-seat multipurpose theater for concerts and sporting events
• A 19-story luxury hotel tower with 200 rooms and suites, more than doubling the location's current room count
• A spa
• A fine dining restaurant on the hotel's top floor
• A Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill
The total expansion cost is approximately $150 million with $1.5 million to be spent on authentic Cherokee art for the interior.
The new gaming floor will open December 2008. The newly branded Hard Rock Hotel & Casino hotel tower opens spring 2009. Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill and the multi-purpose event center are scheduled to open summer 2009.
In addition to the Tulsa location, Cherokee nation launched the grand opening of their newly expanded West Siloam Springs property, located on the Oklahoma-Arkansas border. The 15-table poker room is scheduled to be moved to its new location in the near future, and promises poker players some excellent major tournament opportunities similar to those in Tulsa.
