"The Peppermill Casino (Reno) is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with the Heavyweight Championship of Poker to conduct a series of events in the spring of 2008," said Mike Gainey, Poker Room Manager.

"Everyone here, from the owner on down, are excited about bringing big time poker to Reno. We will have a new all-suite tower at the Peppermill, that will be opened before this year is out, to house the biggest players in the world."

The Heavyweight Championship of Poker tournament has been re-organized into seven events that will take place between April 25th and May 11th, 2008.

Some of the prizes in the preceding events will be free entries into the next weight division up, and, indeed, several persons will be able to win their way from the lower events into the main $100,000 buy-in championship. Only 40 people will be allowed to buy-in directly at this time. Extensive programs of satellites are planned and many Nevada and California casinos have already committed to run satellites.

The promoters of this event have stated that the main event is limited to 100 players; however, should the event be filled before the year is out, additional seats may be made available, but don't count on it. A $1,000 non-refundable deposit will be necessary to reserve one of the 40 direct buy-in seats.

Players invited last year will be offered the opportunity to sign up first. This offer will be open for three weeks after it has been received. If any seats are left after that time, it will be opened to the public on a first come first served basis. When the 40 seats are filled, all other hopefuls will have to win their way in through satellites.

Barry Greenstein and several others have already made their deposit and reserved their seats. Early sign ups will be offered a free room for the 5 nights of the event. Players who would like to participate in this event are warned that there will not be an unlimited number of seats in this event, so, failure to act promptly could result in your being shut out.
