Hello, poker homies, it has been a great year for me. In the past year or so I have had the most amazing opportunities that a girl could ever hope for, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole USA.
I was born in Oklahoma and have loads of kinfolks back there. My father retired and my life with him and mom has been better than good.
I was not too happy when we would leave Oklahoma for a month or so and live in our Nevada home while dad played a little poker in the WSOP with Benny Binion and the boys.
Dad would take me for long walks and talk about everything in the world.
If you have met my dad-"Oklahoma Johnny" Hale-you know that he is a talker as well as a doer!
One of my homies, Caroline, from Blarney, Ireland came to visit me a couple of times and mom and dad took us on an ocean cruise aboard The Freedom of the Seas, where dad was hosting a Seniors WCOP poker cruise.
Oh! Yes, I met Caroline and her family's pub in Blarney, Ireland-and she took me all over her beautiful little piece of heaven-Ireland!
Then my life long homie, Claire, came home in time for dad and mom to invite her to be our guest on the cruise!
We visited all the Freedom of the Seas' discos from dust until the sun was high in the sky. I know you find this hard to believe, but I found very little time to help dad host his poker tournament.
I am just about out of space for this column-so it looks like I will have to invite you back next time, when I tell you about graduating with honors from the University of Nevada, with a degree in child psychology-which, by the way, is perfect for poker!
I also want to tell you about being invited to become a Pussycat blackjack dealer at Caesar's Palace, even though I had never dealt a hand of blackjack.
I can tell you about snowboarding in the Alps, a night in Amsterdam, going outback in Australia, playing poker with the Devilfish in Paris' Aviation Club, and playing poker in the old Vic, in London town, and playing poker with poker legend Perry Green-the man from Alaska-at my father eightieth birthday poker party at the Venetian.
I want to tell you about taking deep sea diving lessons in South America, and about my trip to Thailand.
It will be fun telling you about playing in the WSOP. I met some really interesting European fellows who really know how to play poker, and how to treat a lady.
I want to tell you about playing with the boys in the deep stack for three days at Caesar's Palace! There were over twelve hundred players in this final event and I was the only girl to reach the final table.
In the future issues of the Poker Player Newspaper, I want to tell you about climbing up the winding rock stairway to the top of Blarney castle in Blarney, Ireland where I kissed the Blarney stone and ever since I pretended to smack that lucky rock-you can imagine the pranks the locals pull-I have been so lucky, that I end each column with-"I am Oklahoma Sarah and I always Stay Lucky!" You may have noticed.
